ZywOo ties dev1ce’s MVP record in a single year — only s1mple ahead
Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, the AWPer for Team Vitality, came within reach of breaking yet another record held by Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev. Following his team’s victory at BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 in CS2, the French star could soon surpass s1mple’s record for the most MVP awards in a single season.
On the night of June 23, ZywOo secured his seventh MVP award of 2025, equaling the record set by Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz in 2018. Dev1ce claimed seven MVP titles that year. However, s1mple still holds the all-time record with eight MVPs in 2021.
Earlier in 2025, ZywOo had already surpassed one of s1mple’s milestones. In March, he overtook the Ukrainian AWPer for the most career MVP medals. At the time, Kostyliev argued that ZywOo’s achievement wasn’t entirely fair, as several of his MVPs came from online events. Since then, Herbaut has extended his lead by collecting six more MVP titles.

In the early hours of June 23, Team Vitality were crowned champions of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 after a 2-1 victory over The MongolZ in the grand final. The team took home $500,000 for the win. Following the tournament, the pro scene has now entered its traditional summer break.
