Valve Adds Weekly Missions and New Maps to CS2

A major update has been released for Counter-Strike 2. Valve has introduced the Weekly Missions system, expanded the map pool with new community-made maps, and reorganized map groups in Casual and Deathmatch modes. The update is now live, and the full changelog is available on the official CS2 blog.

Weekly Missions

Weekly challenges have been added to the game. Each week, players will receive one mission that can be completed within seven days. Progress is displayed in the main menu and under the Play section. Completing missions rewards bonus XP, making the system similar to battle passes in other games.

New Maps

Valve has updated the map pool, removing several old maps and introducing new ones:

Removed from rotation:

Basalt, Edin, Palais, Whistle

Added:

• Jura, Grail, and Agency — available in Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes

• Dogtown and Brewery — added to Wingman mode

Updated Map Rotation

The developers have reorganized the maps into the following groups:

• Defusal Group Alpha: Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Vertigo

• Defusal Group Delta: Train, Anubis, Ancient, Overpass, Nuke

• Community Map Group: Jura, Grail, Agency

• Hostage Group: Office, Italy

Audio and Interface

The update includes sound improvements and UI settings adjustments:

• A new setting for main menu background sound volume (Main Menu Ambience Volume)

• Fixed a bug where shooting enemies through smoke would not play a sound

• Addressed issues with missing or interrupted sounds

• Removed deprecated audio commands: snd_setmixer, snd_setmixlayer, snd_soundmixer_setmixlayer_amount, snd_soundmixer_set_trigger_factor

Other Changes

• Fixed an issue with saving the keybind for scancode56 (the "/" symbol in the English layout)

• Lobby invites from players with "Block All Communication" enabled on Steam no longer appear in-game

As a reminder, the previous CS2 update introduced a reworked version of Inferno, the Fever Case, and four new skin collections: Ascent, Boreal, Radiant, and The Train Collection 2025. Additionally, the unique drop item was changed from a Desert Eagle skin to an XM1014 skin.
